I shot at a public range a couple of times and several other hunters approached and commented on how quiet the bow shot. I zeroed the bow out to 70 yards and felt very comfortable out to this range. In a six-day stretch in late October, I harvested a doe, 10-point buck (140-class) and a turkey. One of my closest friends termed it a hat trick. I am 60 years old and have never achieved this with any bow. A few weeks later, I harvested a gobbler with a 10″ beard. As I said, it has been an amazing bow to shoot. It is compact at only 27″ and very lightweight. I have also purchased the the Mathews sling and SCS (Silent Connect System) made for this bow. It is a very lightweight bow sling and the SCS allows you to connect the sling to the bow quite easily. Additionally, you can then purchase 30′ pre-made bow stand retrieve lines that allow you to connect to the bow and bring it up to the stand. IMPORTANT: the line is perfectly placed by the SCS to bring the bow straight up, completely balanced. Mathews, you’ve hit a grand slam with this V3 System and rounded the bases twice.Ĭheck out the photo which illustrates all of these systems, quite an Engineering accomplishment. Some may think that the accessories that I mentioned are a bit pricey. However, I have personally used these in the field for the last two months, and the performance is there. I’m not one to purchase a new bow every year, I like to keep mine for several seasons (6-8) before I’ll invest in a new one. With that being said, I’ve been in the market for a new bow for the past 2 years. When I narrowed my selection down to two manufacturers, I agonized for 6 months over which would be the better option for me. I spent hours on forums, read articles, watched countless hours of reviews, almost to the point where I was sick of the whole process. What it really came down to was shooting the bows for myself. My local dealer handed me both and I spent nearly 2 hours on the indoor range shooting them. Let me clarify, I spent 10 minutes shooting the competitor and over an hour shooting the V3. I just could not wrap my head around how well it shot, how quiet it was, how long it took me to actually get fatigued from shooting. The engineering and design team at Mathews deserves a medal. I can only imagine what kind of passion and stress goes into making something so perfect. I almost feel dumb having wasted so much time agonizing over which company to go with.
